Tirana, 11 July 2017- The ALO 116: Albanian National Child Helpline after the consultation with its Board of Directors announced the appointment of its new executive director.
At the last meeting the Board of Directors appointed Mr. Mirgit Vataj, as the new Executive Director, replacing to this position, Mrs. Belioza Çoku, who held the position since the establishment of ALO in 2009. Ms. Çoku is to take on a new responsibility in her career.
Mr. Vataj, has a 9-year experience in the field of child protection and has been part of many important initiatives in improving child protection system in the country. Since the establishment of ALO 116 Mr. Vataj has provided his contribution as a staff member to this service and since 2013 has hold the position of General Manager of ALO 116. His appointment is an expression of trust by the Board to continue the actual management strategy of ALO 116 and other important activities In the field of child protection from violence and abuse.
Albanian National Child Helpline is a national service that aims to help children in their most difficult moments of life. ALO 116 is a nation-wide free of charge counseling and referral service for children and refers their cases to emergency and social services. Since it is establish, ALO 116 has received more than 600.000 phone calls of which more than 13.000 children cases were dealt successfully.
