Albanian National Child Helpline- ALO 116, since October 2017 was developed and lunched informing and rising awareness campaign in education system on Child Protection focus. Till the end of the first stage were extended more than 22 elementery and pre-elementery schools in Tirana.
The campaign is supported by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, UNICEF Albania and it’s coordinated by the Albanian National Childhelpline – ALO 116. The aim of the awareness campaigne was the promotion of ALO 116-111 services.
The campaign was simultaneously promoted important sources of child protection, repoting child abuse and violence cases, reporting illegal and inappropriatte content for children ect. Among these resources we mention ALO 116, the “National Internet Safety Platform for Children” www.iSIGURT.al and the ISIGURT telephone application.
So far, over 6000 children and more than 200 teachers from Tirana have been informed on child protection issues. We aim that they can be a source of information and awareness for children, teachers, parents and communities for protecting children from abuse, violence and exploitation.
The main activities were:
- Open awareness hours in elementary and pre-elementery schools with children, teachers, parents and guardians;
- Dissmination and distribution of supporting and promotional materials of “ALO 116”;
- Inclusion of the ALO 116 Children’s Board in the awareness campaign;
- Inclusion of volunteers under a well-organized and coordinated scheme;
During the period of October-November 2017 was developed the process of recruitment and training of volunteers. They have been a crucial rol on ALO 116 awareness campaign. Volunteers were selected from different forums, local CSOs, universities etc. Two training session were conduct with volunteers group
The activities will be extended to a period of 4 months and will be carried out by ALO staff members, including counselors, supervisors, managers, volunteers and the board of children.
