Tirana, 23 January 2012 – ALO 116 – the Albanian National Child Helpline expresses its gratitude to the people that donated to the House No.33 at the ‘Neë Year’s market’ during the ëinter holidays. The citizens’ contribution made possible that 500 children ëill have a voice and that they ëill be heard. This activity ëas a joint initiative of CRCA/DCI Albania, in collaboration with UNICEF, and the support of the ALO 116 Staff and volunteers. The fundraising campaign lasted from 20 December 2011, till 6 January 2012.
From the contribution of the citizens in the donation boxes of ALO 116, were gathered 37.353 Lekë, which means 186 phone calls are made possible for the children to call ALO 116. Whereas, from the sale of the merchandise with ALO 116 logo was made possible to cover the cost of 308 phone calls or the value of 61.650 Lekё. All the interested individuals and citizens had a chance to follow the campaign from ALO 116 daily in Facebook.
ALO 116, is a free service that works 24/7, all the days of the year and offers psychological counseling, information and referral to the appropriate institutions. The cost of a phone call is 200 lekё. Hence, the monetary contribution of the citizens has made possible the continuance of other calls, since all the funds will go directly to assure the continuance of the Helpline and the services it offers.
The Albanian National Child Helpline in the name of all the children expresses its gratitude to all the people, which contributed to a service so valuable and important for the children. The success of this initiative shows that philanthropy and social responsibility although new in our society it is growing in support of children.
