Tiranë, 24 May 2013- ALO 116000-Albanian National Helpline for Missing Children as a member of Global Network for Missing Children and Childrens Human Rights Centre of Albania, in collaboration with a range of civil society organizations, organized on the International Day for Missing Children, a Human Chain in front of the Prime Ministry, to raise awareness within public institutions and society in general on the issue of missing children in Albania.
25 May – International Day for Missing Children, is a day when people and society worldwide remember missing children, those children who have been victims of trafficking, exploitation and abuse and support family efforts to find their children.
The main goal of the International Day for Missing Children, is to encourage all institutions and society to think about missing children and to spread messages of hope.
ALO 116-000 on the International Day for Missing Children requested from all responsible institutions, serious commitments for the following:
• To intensify their efforts in finding every missing child in Albania;
• To establish standard procedures for the declaration of a child as “missing” or “disappearing”;
• To treat with urgency every case of runaway child and declare a child as “missing“ within the first 6 hours from the moment the child has not been found;
• To establish a national register for sexual offenders;
By supporting the intensification of the investigation for missing children by the state, Albanian National Helpline for Missing Children – ALO 116-000 is available free of charge 24/7, where every citizen, can report anonymously, if they believe that they may have sufficient information to facilitate finding a missing child.
