Tirana 28 April, 2017 – Today, ALO 116 – Albanian National Child Helpline, organized an open meeting for the presentation of ALO 116 data for 2016 and an analytic report of ALO 116’s data regarding child abuse in Albania. The meeting saw the participation of public authorities, CSOs, experts, child protection professionals, parents, children, etc.
At the meeting were presented data and findings that ALO 116 has received during its work in protection of children. The total number of calls for ten years is 603.408. The total number of treated cases is 14.657. From all treated cases 6922 are child abuse, violence and exploitation cases. The reported forms of violence include physical, emotional, sexual, neglecting and bulling.
In the Annual data analyzes for 2016, the case of Tirana was introduced as a case study and also as a starting point for data analysis in each region. Presentation of child abuse and violence’ data in Albania, provided information: over the categories of child abuse, violence and exploitation cases in Albania, over the treatment of cases way, over the collaboration of other institutions, etc.
The meeting aimed to encourage the drafting of new public policies towards prevention of all forms of child abuse and also the establishment of a sustainable database for future evaluations. This meeting was held in the framework of intensifying the efforts of ALO 116 and its partners and collaborators, to protect children from all forms of abuse and exploitations, in each environment where children stay.
Moreover, the activity was conducted in framework of anniversary of Memorandum of Understanding between ALO 116 and State Agency for Child Right Protection, which aims to protect every child in emergency situation.
Finally, in its tenth anniversary of service for all children in Albania, this activity served as a platform to disscus and give recommandations on establishing, improving and monitoring services, legal framework improvements, and also rising awareness of social actors about the phenomenon of child abuse and exploitationo in Albania.
